Team As It Continues To Invest Fund VII
Firm Hires New Director and Associates
Director Chad Kinzelberg and Associate Ben Fu to Focus on
Software; Associate Nancy Lynch, M.D. Joins Healthcare Team

Foster City, Calif -- July 31, 2006 -- BA Venture Partners
(BAVP), a venture capital partnership that provides capital
and expertise to accelerate market traction for technology
and healthcare companies, today announced it has expanded
its investment team. Former Verisign executive Chad Kinzelberg
joins the firm as a Director and will focus on software investments.
Ben Fu, formerly with IMlogic, which was acquired by Symantec
Corporation in February, also joins the software team. Nancy
Lynch, M.D., a recent graduate of Duke UniversityÆs Fuqua
School of Business and an orthopedic surgeon, joins the firm
as a new Associate on the healthcare team.

BAVP Invests Fund VII
BAVP currently is investing BAVP Fund VII, a $400 million
fund. Areas of investment include semiconductors, networking
and consumer electronics; internet and wireless services,
and software-as-service applications; therapeutics for oncology,
inflammation, neurology and dermatology; and medical devices
addressing orthopedic, cardiovascular and neurological markets.
Chad Kinzelberg
Chad brings nearly 20 years of experience in the software
industry to BAVP. He mostly recently was General Manager and
Senior Vice President of VerisignÆs SSL business unit, where
he managed the P&L and led all functional groups for the companyÆs
flagship division. During his tenure from January 2004 until
the present, Chad was responsible for more than doubling the
unitÆs growth. In addition, he drove the growth of the divisionÆs
international unit by more than 120 percent. Chad established
relationships with key Fortune 500 customers, increased customer
retention and satisfaction, and delivered customer-centric
solutions. He also led the acquisitions of two companies to
accelerate VerisignÆs expansion.
Prior to his position with Verisign, Chad was President and
CEO of Santa Cruz Networks and Vice President of Marketing
with Caere Corporation (now Nuance). He also held executive
positions with Delrina Corporation (acquired by Symantec)
and Polaris Software.
Chad holds an MBA degree from Rice University and a BA degree
in Economics from Claremont McKenna College.
Ben Fu
Ben comes to BAVP following three years as a Senior Sales
Engineer with IMlogic, Inc, a Waltham, MA-based security software
company, recently acquired by Symantec Corp. Focusing on the
companyÆs largest East Coast customers, Ben combined his technical
and sales experience to help IMlogic double its sales year-over-year,
and acquire more than 700 customers within three years. In
addition, Ben built the companyÆs pilot sales process which
was leveraged in IMlogicÆs most competitive sales situations.
Before joining IMlogic, Ben held technical sales positions
with Akamai Technologies, a leader in distributed computing
solutions and services, based in Cambridge, MA. During his
undergraduate and graduate studies in Cambridge, Ben worked
as a consultant and software developer with companies such
as Zefer Corporation, InterSystems, and Frictionless Commerce.
Ben holds both an MEng and BS in Electrical Engineering and
Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Nancy Lynch, M.D.
Nancy joins BAVP following the completion this year of an
MBA degree with a concentration in Health Sector Management.
While a student at Duke UniversityÆs Fuqua School of Business,
Nancy developed and chaired a conference held in March entitled,
"Addressing Diabesity®: The Role of Business in Confronting
an Epidemic."
From 1996 until 2004 when she entered business school, Nancy
was a practicing orthopedic hand surgeon with Orthopedic Healthcare
Northwest, PC, in Eugene, OR. During that time, she completed
a special fellowship in hand and microvascular surgery with
the AO International Foundation in Bern, Switzerland.
A Board-certified orthopedic surgeon and fellowship-trained
hand surgeon, Nancy completed her residency, serving as Chief
Resident, at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine and her
fellowship at the Indiana Hand Center. She graduated from
the Washington University School of Medicine. She holds a
BA in Pre-professional Studies and Psychology from the University
of Notre Dame.
