Wednesday, August 2, 2006

California-based venture capital partnership BA Venture Partners has added Chad Kinzelberg, Ben Fu and Nancy Lynch to its investment team. Kinzelberg joins BAVP as a director to focus on software investments. Fu joins the software team as an associate, and Lynch is the new associate on the healthcare team.

Most recently Kinzelberg was general manager and senior vice president of Verisign's SSL business unit. Prior to Verisign, he was president and CEO of Santa Cruz Networks and vice president of marketing with Caere Corporation (now Nuance). He also held executive positions with Delrina Corporation (acquired by Symantec) and Polaris Software.

Fu comes to BAVP following three years as a senior sales engineer with security software company IMlogic, recently acquired by Symantec Corp. There he focused on large East Coast customers.

Lynch joins BAVP following the completion of her MBA degree with a focus in health sector management.

'This has been a good and a busy year with a number of new investments and exits for BAVP, said Kate Mitchell, managing director of BAVP. 'As a result, we continue to add to the depth and capacity of our team. We are delighted to welcome Chad, Ben, and Nancy to the team at a time when the industry is increasingly more active and competitive. Our portfolio companies and our team will benefit from the strong combination of operations experience, analytical skills and industry knowledge that they each bring to BAVP.'

BAVP currently is investing BAVP Fund VII, a $400m fund. Areas of investment include semiconductors, networking and consumer electronics; internet and wireless services, and software-as-service applications; therapeutics for oncology, inflammation, neurology and dermatology; and medical devices addressing orthopedic, cardiovascular and neurological markets.
