Scale Venture Partners hires VC from DCM
San Francisco Business Times
May 7, 2008
Scale Venture Partners hired Rob Theis, a 25-year tech industry
veteran from DCM-Doll Capital Management, where he was a general
partner for eight years.
At Scale Venture, he'll be a managing director overseeing investments
in technology infrastructure and applications.
Scale has invested together with Theis since 2000, said Kate Mitchell,
a managing director at Scale in Foster City.
At DCM, Theis invested in successful companies such as PGP, Roamware,
NeoPath (acquired by Cisco) and VanceInfo (NYSE: VIT). As executive
vice president for New Era of Networks, Theis grew the company
to $200 million in revenue and was instrumental in leading it through
a successful initial public offering. Prior to NEON, Rob spent
10 years in executive roles at Sun Microsystems (NASDAQ: JAVA),
where he drove growth in a series of strategic initiatives, including
Sun's success in financial services. His previous experience also
includes introducing Silicon Graphics' (NASDAQ: SGIC) initial workstations
and selling timesharing services for McDonnell Douglas, which is
now part of Boeing (NYSE: BA).
