Nvidia Corp. has agreed to acquire Ageia Technologies Inc., which
has raised at least $65 million in venture backing, according to
VentureWire archives.
Terms of the deal were not released.
Ageia's PhysX software has been adopted by games on the Sony Platstation
3, Microsoft Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii and PCs.
Founded in 2003, Aegia has raised funding from Granite Global
Ventures, Hercules Technology Growth Capital, Apex Venture Partners,
BA Venture Partners, CID Ventures, HIG Ventures and VentureTech
Alliance.
Manju Hegde, co-founder and chief executive of Ageia, is staying
with Nvidia. Hegde said Ageia and its employees will be integrated
into Nvidia.
"Ageia has been an industry leader in gaming physics and Nvidia
is the leader in (graphical processing units)..." Hegde said. "So
it's a very natural fit."
